If you're deciding to undertake a kitchen or bathroom remodel job, then the first question you're probably asking yourself is, "what should I do?" Finding the balance between what you're hoping to spend on the project versus what you actually want is the difficult part when doing any remodel job. Here are some creative ideas to consider when giving your kitchen or bathroom a fresh makeover.
Cabinets and drawers
Cabinets and drawers take up a lot of space in kitchens and bathrooms, as well as acting as a focal point of the room. Over time it is common to become bored with the appearance, but instead of installing new cabinets and drawers, which becomes costly and time consuming, consider altering their appearance on the outside. Painting them a different color can really change the feel and appearance of the room. Change knobs and handles also and you'll be amazed at how much the room will differ in appearance. If you want to take it step further then consider removing the cabinet doors and replacing them with glass fronted ones. This will really make the room seem like there is more space and give you a cool, fresh appearance to look forward to.
Counter tops take up tons of space in your kitchen and bathroom and really add a lot of feeling to the room. Replacing them is always an option, but it can be costly and time consuming. There are some great laminate counter tops available on the market that are very quick and easy to install. On top of that, laminate counter tops are much cheaper than granite or other stone and will really give your kitchen or bathroom a wonderful new appearance.
Use the wall and ceiling space
Walls play such an important role in your home, yet they are often just used as spaces to hang pictures or mirrors. Remember, your walls are valuable space that can be used for storage and fun. You could very easily turn a part of your wall into a large chalkboard with the simple application of some chalkboard paint. This is a great idea for your kitchen that your guests and children will love. Also a chalkboard comes in very handy for leaving messages to family members and is fun! Don't forget to use your wall space for adding more shelving too. This will certainly increase your storage space and allow you to bring some color to the room.
In addition, think about ways you can use your ceiling. A wonderful and creative idea is to install some hooks that you can use to hang pots and pans from. This will then open up a lot cabinet space for other things you need to store.
