With the warmer weather approaching quickly, you are probably ready to fire up your grill and entertain your friends and family members on your patio. However, if your concrete patio is like many, then it could probably use a little bit of TLC. Luckily, if you follow these tips, you can make your patio look its best this summer.
1. Give it a Scrub
First of all, it helps to clean your concrete patio as thoroughly as possible. This is easier than you probably think; all you need is a bucket, a mixture of water and dishwashing solution, a long-handled scrub brush and a water hose. Simply spray it off, scrub it thoroughly with the soapy water, and spray it off. You may need to repeat the process a few times, but in time, you should be able to get rid of dirt, food stains and anything else that might be on your patio. Even if you don't see results right away, your patio might look even better after it has dried thoroughly in the sun.
2. Grind it Down
If you can't get rid of the stains and imperfections on your patio, then you may want to use a concrete grinding machine. You can rent one, or you can hire a concrete pouring professional like Commercial Interior to do it for you. Either way, a concrete grinding machine will work well for getting rid of surface stains, evening out uneven areas and otherwise giving your patio a like-new look. This can be a great alternative to repaving if your patio needs a real face lift.
3. Get Rid of Weeds
If you have weeds growing on the sides of your patio or in the cracks, then it's important to get rid of them. The roots can start to shift the concrete, and the weeds themselves can be unsightly. Luckily, spraying a little bit of weed killer on the weeds should do the trick. If you have kids and pets, consider using a natural, non-toxic weed killer to help prevent injury. Now is also a time to use an edger or weed whacker to edge up the grass and other plants that surround your concrete patio.
If you are excited about spending time on your patio this spring and summer, now is the time to start preparing it. Luckily, by giving your patio a little bit of TLC, you can make it look great in time for the warmer summer weather.Share
